Philippa Boyle

Soprano

Philippa sang the title role in our 2024 production of Puccini’s Turandot. She has since made her Royal Opera debut in Mark-Anthony Turnage’s Festen and appeared as Ellen Orford in Peter Grimes with Opera North.

Soprano

Sky took the title role in our 2025 production of Strauss’ Salome. Her international work includes appearances at the Royal Opera House, Garsington Opera and Opera North, as well as title roles in Rusalka and Fedora.

Elizabeth Karani

Soprano

Elizabeth returned to Salon Opera as Tatyana in our 2026 Onegin. A former National Opera Studio artist, she has appeared at the Royal Opera House, English National Opera, Opera Holland Park and Grange Park Opera.

Gemma Summerfield

Soprano

Gemma joined us for our staging of Handel’s Messiah: Worthy Is the Lamb in 2017. She is a Kathleen Ferrier Award and Tenor Viñas Competition winner whose engagements have included the Royal Opera, Glyndebourne and Staatsoper Hamburg.

Mezzo-soprano

Mae sang the Witch in our 2025 Hansel and Gretel. A Guildhall graduate and winner of the Swedish Wagner Prize, she made her operatic debut at Glyndebourne and has appeared at English National Opera and Longborough Festival Opera.

Rozanna Madylus

Mezzo-soprano

Rozanna sang Olga in our 2026 production of Onegin. A Royal Academy Opera graduate and former City Music Foundation Artist, she has appeared with English National Opera, Longborough, Wexford and the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence.

Mezzo-soprano

Lydia created a role in our commissioned Portrait of a Prima Donna in 2025. A Guildhall Opera School graduate, she has since appeared with Longborough Festival Opera and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic.

Stephanie Wake-Edwards

Mezzo-soprano

Stephanie appeared in our newly commissioned Pandora’s Box in 2023. A former Jette Parker Young Artist at the Royal Opera House, she is now a member of the ensemble at Deutsche Oper Berlin.

Kangmin Justin Kim
[09]Kangmin Justin Kim

Countertenor

Justin returned to Salon Opera for A Korean Noël in 2024, bringing together Korean art song, Christmas music and Poulenc. Internationally, he made history as the first male singer to perform Cherubino at the Royal Opera House.

Luis Gomes

Tenor

Luis sang Rodolfo in our 2024 La bohème. A former Jette Parker Young Artist at the Royal Opera House, he is also a prizewinner at Operalia and has built an international career across opera and concert stages.

Xavier Hetherington

Tenor

Xavier sang Lensky in our production of Onegin. A Royal College of Music graduate, he has trained in Florence and Valencia and has appeared at Opera North, Longborough Festival Opera and Opera Holland Park.

Martins Smaukstelis

Tenor

Martins sang Calaf in our 2024 production of Turandot. The Latvian-born tenor won the 2024 Emmy Destinn Awards and has since appeared as Rodolfo, the Duke of Mantua, Tamino and Lensky.

Dawid Kiming

Baritone

Dawid sang Jokanaan in our 2025 production of Strauss’ Salome, bringing the role into the unusually close dramatic space at the heart of Salon Opera.

Timothy Nelson
[14]Timothy Nelson

Baritone

Timothy sang Germont in our 2026 La traviata. A former Glyndebourne Jerwood Young Artist and Royal College of Music International Opera School graduate, his credits include English National Opera, Opera North and English Touring Opera.

William Byram

Director

William has shaped some of Salon Opera’s most intimate productions, including Portrait of a Prima Donna, Die Fledermaus, Hansel and Gretel and La traviata.

Adam Torrance

Director

Adam has directed Turandot, Onegin, Tosca and Salome for Salon Opera, developing productions conceived for the particular intensity of performance at close quarters.
